About the Journal

The African Journal of Educational Management (AJEM), founded in 1983 by the Department of Educational Management at the University of Ibadan’s Faculty of Education, is a scholarly, peer-reviewed forum dedicated to advancing theory and practice in educational leadership, policy, administration and economics across African contexts. Published twice yearly—in June and December—AJEM appears in both print (ISSN 0795-0063) and open-access online formats, and is indexed in Google Scholar and the University Digital Library.

AJEM operates a rigorous double-blind peer-review process in line with COPE’s best-practice ethics guidelines, ensuring that all original research papers, theoretical discussions and critical reviews meet the highest standards of scholarly integrity. We welcome quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods contributions that address issues of organisational development, management information systems, human resources in education, and the economics of education, provided they offer clear international significance and applicability.

Beyond primary research articles—whether descriptive, analytical or correlational—AJEM features well-crafted book reviews, review articles and technical notes. From time to time, we also collaborate with international scholars on special issues that spotlight emerging challenges and innovations in educational management. By fostering an inclusive, ethically rigorous exchange of ideas, AJEM continues to shape policy and practice in educational management across Africa and beyond.
